It is also necessary to understand that outlining and rewriting in their own words is essential because it helps in the process of learning and memorizing the concepts or theories. If students will fail to outline and rewrite in his or her own words, he or she might face difficulty in remembering important points. I find the idea of outlining and rewriting effective because I have used this idea and have observed the benefits of it. According to me, this is one of the best learning methods that can significantly help in boosting the retention power of students. When I was not practicing outlining and rewriting, it was very tough for me to keep important points in my mind and generally I used to forget important points in exams. I have faced a similar situation many times and hence I was looking for an effective way to memorize the key points so that I can write them in an exam to score high. Then I got suggested by someone to outline and rewrite whatever I learn. I started practicing it and it helped me to improve my learning capacity significantly. Generally, I try to connect the concept of theory to one of the most important things in my life so that I can relate it whenever necessary. It helps to remember the point or the concept at the time when I need it. Outlining and rewriting clarify the concept helps in thinking from different perspectives, improving writing skills, critical thinking skills, analytical skills, and most importantly memorizing the concept for the long-term (Mihret & Wassie, 2016). So, it can be said that it is one of the key learning practices that should be focused on.
