During a conversation, one of my friend told me, “Why should you go for lecture? There are already so many lecturers. And, you can earn more as a professional rather than as a lecturer.”

While I agreed that if I continue on the path as an IT professional, I may generate more income than being a lecturer. However, I believe that if you are able to see a problem and if you are capable to solve that problem, then you should also make effort to do so. With this belief, I decided that if I can see the gap between skills required by the industry and knowledge among students, then onus is on me to fill those gaps. Students should learn what industry needs from them, and they can learn these things in either of the two ways:

1. Joining a company for internship or full time job

2. Learning from those who have been there and done that

The first way is somewhat difficult as landing a desired internship is not easy. Thus, one can depend on the second way, which is to learn from the industry professionals. My ultimate goals for the students I will teach are threefold. The successful students should be able to

Statement about fostering an inclusive environment in the classroom

An inclusive environment is where people of all culture can share their opinions and point of view without any restrictions. They should be able to take participation in social activities, teaching, work, and learning. They should not feel abused, harassed, or criticized. I believe that such environment can only be created in the country if right teachings are imparted to the students. Students are the future of the society.

Therefore, if they are taught right, then the result will be good. Thus, my actions and intentions has always been to ensure that students never feel anger and helplessness that may make them disengaged. They should not feel marginalized and everyone should be able to realize that we all are equal.

In order to achieve such environment, I intend to form positive relationships with the students. Knowing them will help me overcome any assumptions I might have about them and help them bring on the same page. I will set specific ground rules to hold discussions within the class that will ensure that the students feel safe. There will be option to provide anonymous feedback on any matter.
